The Local Area
Meuzac

Meuzac (2km / 3 minutes) is our nearest local village with post office, Boulangerie, Boucherie, Vival (small “oh damn it” store), Wet Fish shop on Fridays, Tabac with restaurant and bar. It also has a swimming lake with beach facilities and childrens play area.
Supermarkets / Shops
Nearest supermarkets are found in Magnac Bourg (8kms / 10 mins by car) near the Junction 41 off the autoroute and Lubersac (10 kms / 12 mins by car).
Restaurants
We have an excellent restaurant en route to Meuzac (1km) L’Escala dau Lemousi. If you use our route to find Chabrenas from the motorway, this restaurant is found by the dam to the lake. Other restaurants are found in Montgibaud (5 mins), Lubersac, Magnac Bourg, Coussac Bonneval, St Yrieix la Perche, Pompadour, Conceze, Masseret and many others.
Swimming Lakes
These can be found in Meuzac, St Gemaine les Belles, Masseret, Lubersac, St Yrieix la Perche. There is also an outdoor swimming pool open in the summer in Lubersac.
Night Markets
Held in various villages during July and August. Our local ones are held in St Yrieix La Perche, Segur le Chateau, Vicq-sur-Breuilh and St Pardoux Corbiere. These are outdoor markets where you buy local produce to cook and eat it at the market – tables & chairs are provided and usually music by local bands.
Market Days
There are large markets held on 2nd & 4th Fridays in St Yrieix la Perche. St Croisille sur Briance on the 18th of the month. Saturday mornings in Brive. Limoges indoor market every day.
Small markets are held in Coussac Bonneval on Thursday, Pierre Buffiere on Friday and Lubersac on Friday.
Places to visit
Limoges
(30 kms) Cultural city drenched in 2000 years of history, founded in the reign of the Roman Emperor Augustus and called after him, Augustoritum. With lots of shops, Museums, the Cathedral and markets, it is also home to the Musée National Adrian Dubouche for the history of Limoges Ceramics, glass and Porcelaine.
Brive
(45 kms) This is a lovely city with many medieval buildings centering round the Cathedral in the centre of town. Plenty of shops and restaurants.
Oradour sur Glane
(40kms) The scene of a Second World War Nazi massacre, killing 642 inhabitants on 10th June 1944. The town is now a permanent memorial to those who died and a reminder to us all.
Collonge-La-Rouge

A very pretty village with unusual red stone buildings. With Cafes, restaurants and several shops.
Brantome

Brantome is an attractive town near the northern edge of the Dordogne department and has a nice mix of medieval and renaissance architecture to admire. The town is classed as one of ‘les Plux Beaux Detours’, most beautiful detours, in France.
Chateaux

There are many found in the area, the nearest being found in Coussac Bonneval (10 mins – very interesting Chateau and well worth a visit and still inhabited by the Marquis de Bonneval), Arnac Pompadour, Jumillac la Grand. And a bit further afield, the Chateaux of Turenne, Castlenau and Montal. We also have the route of “Richard the Lionheart” which can be followed all around the area with various chateaux on this route.
Golf
Our nearest golf courses are in – Golf de Porcelaine, an excellent course and the Golf de Limoges.
Canoeing
The Vezere, Lot and Dordogne valleys are all available for canoeing and are all within easy travelling distance also with their stunning views and pretty villages including Rocamadour and Collonge la Rouge and many others
Caves
There are spectacular caves to the south of us at Grotte de Roc, Goffre de Padirac and the renowned cave paintings of Grotte de Lascaux as well as many others.
Race Course
There is an excellent race course in Arnac Pompadour with race meetings held various weekends during the summer.
